Why Tallow?

Tallow's natural fatty acids (oleic, stearic, palmitoleic and linoleic) closely resemble the oils your skin makes on its own. That's why it sinks in instead of just sitting on top, and why it's so good at locking in moisture. It also naturally contains fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K.

We render our suet with chlorine- and fluoride-free water, which washes out impurities and removes the beefy smell. Every batch is whipped for a smooth texture and made using only glass or food-grade stainless steel. No plastic. No aluminum. Ever.

Does it smell like beef?
No. Washing the suet in clean water during rendering removes the beefy smell. Just Tallow is unscented.

Can I use it on my face?
Yes. Start with a pea-sized amount on clean skin. It's rich, so less is more.

Is it greasy?
It feels rich at first and absorbs within a few minutes.

Is it good for sensitive skin?
With just two ingredients and no fragrance, it's a popular pick for sensitive skin. As with any new skincare, patch test first.

Why castor oil?
A small amount of castor oil helps give our whipped balm its soft, smooth glide.

How should I store it?
